Oh, My Heart

My obsession with anatomical hearts began shortly after I was diagnosed with a coarctation of the aorta in '09. I guess it wasn't so much a diagnosis as much as a realization on the part of my doctors, since it's something I was born with. 15 months of attempting to fix it and in June 2011 I finally had open heart surgery and got the ol' ticket fixed.
Now I can't help but be drawn to anything to do with hearts now; it's something that will be super important to me forever. So when I saw this phone case my first thought was "It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine" so Happy Valentines day to me!
Another thing I fell in love with at first sight? This incredibly neon pink sweater! All the other options were black, grey, or navy, booooring. This colour makes me very happy and isn't that the point of getting dressed?

New Slang

Good Morning loves, how crazy is it that it's already October?! September seemed to fly by, but I'm pretty excited for October. I love Halloween and seeing the pumpkins at the grocery store gets my heart all twitterpated. It's a pretty lovely time of year with the leaves all changing colours, although it's gotten pretty crisp here lately, there was frost on my vehicle this morning! It better not snow....

This baseball tee dress is such a great piece for the chillier weather we're experiencing. I've definitely been digging pieces that are more minimalist and easier to mix lately. My fall wardrobe is essentially all grey, black, burgundy, khaki and red, which is a nice change of pace after the amount of neons and brights I traipsed around in all summer. This dress is super comfortable and is easy to dress up with some funky tights, layered necklaces and red lipstick.

For the Love of Leopard

Good Morning my loves! And a very happy Friday to you all. I hope everyone has a more exciting weekend planned than myself, I shall be stuck working on projects and homework. Although they are fun projects at least, and I need a low key weekend after being sick all week anyways. If any of you are around Edmonton you should absolutely check out Western Canada Fashion Week, tonight is the emerging designer competition which is a great way to showcase new talent.

Here is my outfit from the amazing blog sale we hosted last weekend. It was a really gorgeous day, and I was going to moving around a lot so I reached for this leopard print number I love. As it turns out great minds think alike because the gorgeous Kassandra of Kastles wore the same one! She rocked it with a leather vest and layered necklaces.  I love leopard print for fall but I couldn't resist pairing it with a bit of neon with this T & J design's necklace and some bright orange finger nails.

Alley Kat

Hey There Loves!! Time for the start of another week, but after an especially chill weekend, I am ready for it. It was so nice to work out, watch movies all weekend and spend sunday with my gal pals. Brunch is my favourite meal of all time! We went to Urban Diner, which is one of my top picks for brunch, seriously eggs benny or the veg frittata for ever!

I got stopped wearing this Cat dress along whyte ave about 4 or 5 times from people saying they loved it and wanted to know where I got it. I believe this was a fantastic investment and love that I could wear it casually with denim and neon accents and that it's easy to dress up too. Also, how rockin' are these neon orange heels I picked up?!

 There loves, if you couldn't tell before this post you certainly will be aware now that this visually offensive, bright neon yellow bag is my obsession. Ironically enough before purchasing this purse I wasn't really feeling the whole neon thing. But one especially depressing and snowy day I meandered into Winners and my eyes were immediately drawn to this neon beauty. My mood was instantly lifted and I knew this purse was meant to be in my wardrobe and for the past 3-4 months it has added the perfect pop to any outfit. It pairs perfectly with neutrals and other brights, transitioning through the seasons from 3 feet of snow to 3 feet of grass. And if you're sick of seeing it I must apologize, it's going to stick around burning your cornea's

Beat That Heat

Good Morning dears!! The week is halfway done, whooo! I actually have the day off and since it's supposed to be a beautiful day I intend to enjoy it. The nicest thing about working a random schedule and having to work some days on the weekend is having a day off in the middle of the week. Less people at the parks/shops/gym. 

 I am seriously obsessed with crop tops for really hot days, I think I'm going to have to invest in a few more because it's really all I want to wear right now! I must admit that I kind of like showing off my laparotomy scar, I think my scars are kind of sexy. Which is probably a good way to think of them! I made my very first trip into trip into Target a couple weeks ago, I have been avoiding shopping (especially big chain stores) but I needed a few things for camping. I was instantly distracted from my purpose by their women's section, I used a lot of restrain only picking up this neon skirt on clearance and a neon hoodie (ya know, so I didn't get lost in the dark while camping...) This skirt has pockets and is eye popping bright, so really how was I to say no?

Flower in the Sun

Good Morning Lovelies! I hope your week is going well, mine started off a little rough, I think I had a touch of the flu on monday but I am feeling much better now! It kind of forced me to take a day to do nothing but hang out with Duke and watch movies, and I guess that's just what I needed.

I bought this dress back in October and it has been such a versatile and wonderful piece in my wardrobe. I can't help but love the combination of the super girly lace dress with my studded denim vest. This vest is easily my favourite purchase of this summer! The only problem with this dress is it's a wee bit on the short side, no wind/sudden movements in this number. It's fine when I'm wearing tights but sans tights it felt a bit more on the scandelous side. That seems to always happen with the things I purchase during the colder months! Although the versatility of a little white dress is quite wonderful, I think I need another more summertime appropriate ;)

Leopards and Launch Parties

Hey There loves, I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and spent some time with their dads on sunday. I made my pop breakfast and we went to the new superman movie which was fantastic!!

This is what I wore last week to the Poppy Barley flats launch party, which was so much fun. The weather was really horrible last week and was raining on and off but luckily it stopped long enough to snap these. I had completely forgotten about this blazer until cleaning out my closet a couple weeks ago and I'm pretty happy I found it, I really love leopard print. And who doesn't love a good dose of neon?

Here are some snaps from the party, good food (truffle oil popcorn?!) good wine, music and best of all some great shoes. They are made to measure, which is fantastic because then they fit you perfectly. And especially useful for those with wide/narrow and different sized feet. Check out their website here
