This Ol' Heart

 photo red_zpsb1da35b0.jpg
When I received this dress from Midwest Muse I was pretty excited to get to style it and I was even more excited when she said I could keep it! Not only is the colour scheme perfect for heart month, but it fits perfectly. Girl has an amazing closet of dresses and I am so lucky to get to try some.
Since it was freezing this day I had to layer it with some fleece lined tights and my blazer. I can't wait for the days of bare skin and just throwing a dress on. Spring come soon please? Lucky for me I'm off to Vancouver next week
This time of the year is awesome because I can find heart shaped anything everywhere I go. Like this sparkly hearts, heart shaped and covered in glitter? A girl really doesn't even need an excuse to buy them. They are the perfect accessory for Heart month :)

Snow Flower

 photo flores2_zps17f542b6.jpg
I, like most others, cannot resist a good floral print. There is something so fun, girly and romantic about florals. Especially in the dead of winter, when the ability to see the real thing isn't very likely. That's the part of fashion that I like the best, that by putting something on your whole mood can change.
Pairing this floral number with this khaki style jacket seemed like the perfect balance to me. Masculine and feminine pieces are the combination I lean to the most, I love the way they play off one another. I'm actually surprised I don't wear this jacket more often actually, it's such a great piece. Hopefully once Spring shows up I'll be able to work it into my rotation more :)

Stick Around

 photo 1_zps4034623b.jpg
The day I realized you could put tees or shirts overtop of dresses and make them look like separates was the day my wardrobe grew 2x. It's genius and such a simple way to get more use out of your items! I am all about getting millage out of all my pieces.
Take this dress for example, this baby has been rocking out in my closet since '11. It's a babydoll style dress that actually on it's own does not do anything for me, but when paired with other pieces I love it. I think it helps that the colours and subtle floral print lend itself to be mixed well. It's managed to hang on through all the purges of my closet, I think that has something to do with the fact that it's chiffon and feels lighter than air.
I apologize for all the snow on my lower half in these photos, I had to make a path through 2 feet of snow to get to my favourite photo spot. The things we do for blog love

Against the Seasons

 photo florals_zps6c241d0a.jpg
Hey There loves, I hope you had a fantastic weekend. I felt a bit under the weather, but wine + cheese with two of my best gals on Friday followed by a living room dance party made me feel loads better. My friends and I are way cool, obviously.
I somehow find I wear florals more in fall and winter then I do in summer, probably because in summer I'm surrounded by flowers and in winter I am surrounded by cold, white snow. Therefore I need to cheer myself up by wearing flowers. This one is quickly working it's way into my rotation, I love all the colours in it and the fact that it's a baby doll style. I am all about comfort these days, I really will not wear something unless it's super comfortable. But these pieces all make it easy to combine style and comfort

It would appear over the past couple weeks that winter is here and here to stay. The temperatures have dropped to the negative teens (Celsius) and there is snow up and over my ankle booties. While depressing as this may be, it is getting me excited for Christmas! To combat the depression of the cold I took a peak back into the archives to get excited for winter dressing. The best part? Cozy layers! Sweaters, tights, booties, lace and scarves oh my! Just because it's cold outside doesn't mean it's time to give up, it's time to get creative. Fleece lined tights under dresses with a cute sweater and scarf are a way I plan on staying cozy and stylish these next few (5-6) months!

Winterlong

Photobucket
Good Morning Lovelies!! I hope you all had a great short week and are looking forward to the weekend. I sure am, I have had a cold for the past few days, which is probably due to a lack of sleep over the holidays and the increase in my intake of alcohol! Whoops, ah well, it was a good holiday. I am probably going to take it easy over the next couple days, watch some movies.
I wore this out for a nice long Duke walk on one of the days while it's been really nice out the last couple days. I have really been enjoying the warmer weaher around here, it went from -25 to -2!! I could finally bust out my lighter jackets and this light chiffon dress was so nice. I love myself some florals in the wintertime, especially this dress because these ones are really subtle. I love wearing loose girly dresses with my leather jacket.

Remix

Remix: The Floral Dress
Photobucket PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Hey There, here is another Remix post! I got this floral dress as a birthday gift from my mum from Urban Outfitters August 2010. It was right after my second surgery that got messed up, and it's one of the few pieces I have from that time that still fits and that I still like. This piece has transitioned really well through seasons and the years. I love the subtle floral print and the colour allows it to be paired with so many different things. It seems I've mixed it with a lot of brown, black, grey and pops of yellow!

Winter Wonderland

Photobucket
Good Morning Loves! These photo's are absolutely a picture of the winter wonderland that took over Edmonton and my street last week. Almost 2 feet of snow, but at least when it was snowing it wasn't very cold and was absolutely beautiful out. I dragged my little brother out of doors for these photos and in exchange helped shovel the driveway and walk (which took nearly 2 hours...)
This scarf is so wonderful and large, perfect for snow days and will be wonderful in the chilly winter months. That is definitely one of my favourite parts of winter is being able to bundle up and get cozy. This floral print dress has been in my closet for a few years now and I never seem to tire of the funky print or fit and flare shape. I love the way the dark colours of this look contrasted against the white backdrop and the pop with a bold red lip
