Home Away From Home

Everytime I go to Vancouver, I can't resist heading down to Kits beach to enjoy the sun, the ocean and the gorgeous view of downtown. My brother used to live close to here so we would always walk down, it's such a great place to spend the day reading a book or soaking up the sun. I haven't been to Vancouver in the summer in way too long, I think I am going to plan a roadtrip so I can enjoy the ocean properly.

This plaid dress was a fantastic purchase made at the beginning of January. It's super comfortable and is such a fantastic pattern; I can never get enough plaid. The nice weather had me more than happy to bust out my denim jacket. I think for the summer I'm going to get another one in a lighter shade, because they go with everything.

Big Red

 

I would run away to Vancouver again in a heart beat if I could at this moment. Tests, projects and commitments be damned! Even though they're getting snow right now it's still about 20 degrees warmer. Spring could not come fast enough here.

Bright red, grey and black are an easy go-to for me, it's simple but I love it. This outfit was so perfectly comfortable for traipsing around Vancouver on an overcast day. We headed to North Van in the morning for the most amazing pancakes of my whole life at Ethical Kitchen. Then we headed back downtown to check out the Olympic Village; I was surprised I had not been down there on all my travels. It was a lot of fun and such a beautiful part of the city to check out.

Mad about Plaid

It occurred to me over Christmas when my dad bought me that amazing plaid scarf that I do not own nearly enough plaid. I quickly righted that with a trip to the sale section at Zara where I fell in love with this plaid chiffon number. I have to say chiffon is one of my favourite fabrics, I am all about comfort these days and it's perfect for style as well as comfort.

I decided to add my blazer and heeled booties to dress it up a bit for a fancier day. I spend so much of my days in athletic wear that I can't pass up an opportunity to put on something a bit more spiffy. A pop of colour, a few punky accessories and I'm set ;)

Better off Red

I am sure it is no surprise to anyone that my favourite colour is red. It's even the colour of my room (and let me tell you, that took several coats of paint), so it's crazy to me that I don't incorporate it more in my wardrobe. I mean, I wear it everyday right now with my hair, but I own surprisingly few red pieces, but I've taken to rectify this grave injustice.

My dad actually got me this scarf for Christmas and it is now my go to. Not only is it my favourite hue (bought for me by Hugh!) but it's incredibly soft and cozy. Perfect to bundle up and add some colour to ensembles such as this one. I have the tendency to lean towards more neutrals in the winter, but that makes it a good backdrop for pieces such as this scarf and this neon purse.

Casual Sunday

Good Morning my loves!! I hope you all had an absolutely amazing weekend and are enjoying some time off. I am doing my best to get some R n R whilst on my break from school, I'm feeling a bit under the weather but it's awesome to be able to just chill, read and watch movies! 

This is a super casual look today; I feel like my style is definitely leaning more to the casual side of the spectrum for everyday life these days. However, I still like to feel pulled together with pieces I can dress up or down. Having a wardrobe that's incredible versatile with every piece being comfortable really is the dream. And there is something just so perfect and quintessential about plaid or flannel in the winter time that I can't resist. Also, how amazing is this scarf that my friend knit for me for secret santa? Not only is it the perfect colour but it's sooo cozy

Got my Red Dress on Tonight

Good Morning loves!! I hope you all had an absolutely amazing Christmas eve/day spent with friends and family. Ours was super chill, just the 4 of us here, skyping my brother in Vancouver on Christmas morning and eating WAY too much Christmas eve. It's always wonderful to spend quality time with the family!

This holiday season was jam packed with Christmas parties with friends/coworkers and that calls for getting all dolled up. It's always nice to a few pieces that are great for dressier occasions. Like this little red dress, I've only worn it once or twice before but it's something that is perfect to dress up. It was my go-to for my annual Christmas party with friends. Since it happened to be freezing cold though, I was to bust out this wonderful plaid coat and my faux fur stole.

The Eternal Wanderer

Hey There m'loves, I hope your week is coming along swimmingly. Mine has been good, I've just been so tired though. I guess that's what happens when you're in school full time, work part time and blog. Oh and keep up with an adorable pup named Mr.Duke. I shouldn't complain too much, I really love being busy, because I'm a freak.

This "Wander Eternal" skeleton tank from the Weekend Society is quickly becoming my favourite casual piece. I love me anything with a skeleton or skull on it (must be my teenage angst bubbling to the surface) and the weekend society's pieces always remind me to look for adventure. I decided to style it in the typical Canadian fashion with a plaid button down, some ripped denim and my khaki jacket. All this snow has me aching for a weekend away in the Rockies! If you've never been to Banff or Jasper, you must put in on your bucket list, I'm lucky enough to live quite close.

Prairie Girl

 

Hey Lovelies!! I hope you've had a great week and are ready for the weekend! I've had a cold all week but hopefully I've kicked it just in time for the weekend. I am going out for dinner with a couple of my girlfriends tonight for a little Christmas get together, tomorrow is The Pretty Secrets vintage pop-up shop and then I am going to a crafting party at my friends place. So it's going to be a busy and awesome weekend. 

On my day off earlier in the week I was wandering around superstore and of course had to go to the Joe Fresh section, I'm glad I did because I found a couple flannel tops for $10 each! I love plaid for fall and winter and this one is perfect, it actually fits properly and I love the way it mixes with the girly lace skirt. Plaid is something that feels quintessentially Canadian and I completely embrace that. Freezing cold outside? Let me put my flannel on!
