Home Away From Home

Everytime I go to Vancouver, I can't resist heading down to Kits beach to enjoy the sun, the ocean and the gorgeous view of downtown. My brother used to live close to here so we would always walk down, it's such a great place to spend the day reading a book or soaking up the sun. I haven't been to Vancouver in the summer in way too long, I think I am going to plan a roadtrip so I can enjoy the ocean properly.

This plaid dress was a fantastic purchase made at the beginning of January. It's super comfortable and is such a fantastic pattern; I can never get enough plaid. The nice weather had me more than happy to bust out my denim jacket. I think for the summer I'm going to get another one in a lighter shade, because they go with everything.

Been Down So Very Damn Long

It wouldn't be a trip to Vancouver without exploring Gastown and meandering all over downtown. It doesn't matter how many times I've been there it's always fun and always offers up something new. And there is always a few grunge worthy back alleys to serve as a back drop for outfit photos.

  I find myself not wanting to look as girly as I used to, I don't know whether that will change once to sun comes out and the flowers blossom. Or maybe I've just changed, either way I'm totally embracing more simple outfits, and am okay with wearing edgier less feminine pieces. I find I feel more myself these days, I think that may have something to do with finding my passion in life, I don't feel like I'm looking to other inspirations other than my daily life. Funny how that works isn't it?

Also coming home from Vancouver always leaves me feeling inspired :)

Big Red

 

I would run away to Vancouver again in a heart beat if I could at this moment. Tests, projects and commitments be damned! Even though they're getting snow right now it's still about 20 degrees warmer. Spring could not come fast enough here.

Bright red, grey and black are an easy go-to for me, it's simple but I love it. This outfit was so perfectly comfortable for traipsing around Vancouver on an overcast day. We headed to North Van in the morning for the most amazing pancakes of my whole life at Ethical Kitchen. Then we headed back downtown to check out the Olympic Village; I was surprised I had not been down there on all my travels. It was a lot of fun and such a beautiful part of the city to check out.

Where My Heart Sets Sail

The last look of heart month but the first set of photos from Vancouver! I did not want to come home at all, it was so much warmer there, the grass was green and the flowers were started to blossom. It's currently -25 here and I'm getting hella depressed with the weather. I am so glad I got to escape it, even if it was only for a few days.

One of my favourite things to do in Vancouver is head over to Granville market and get some of the tastiest and freshest produce. This time around we grabbed some amazing aged cheese, and fish jerky which was way tastier than it sounds. We also finally hit up the Granville Island Brewery, which is definitely one of my favourites!

Another thing that's my favourite? This maxi skirt, I couldn't resist pairing it with my heart tee and this blush scarf. For me these shades were are perfect together, and have me looking forward to spring finally hitting the wild west.

Swim Until You Can't See Land

Hey there darlings, I hope your week went well and you're ready for the weekend!! It's supposed to snow here again and I am absolutely going to complain about it, I miss having my toes in the sand in Vancouver. Spring needs to get here a little faster, doesn't it know I have lots of cute spring/summer dresses to wear?! Geeez!

I got this dress from a swap for Flock Together from Ericka of Sweet and Hearts, and I have to admit I've worn it several times. I just can't help but love it, the fit, the colour is different for me, the pockets, the cut out!! It's kind of perfect and soo comfortable. I am going to be very sad to send it back (ps, sorry for keeping it so long!)Paired with some pops of blue, and my little leather jacket it was the perfect dress for a day walking around Stanley Park and for a visit to the Aquarium.

Spring Starts When Our Heart Beat's Poundin'

Good morning loves!! I hope your week is coming along nicely, I am slowly adjusting to being home. Honestly I feel like I could use another vacation already. I've been going non stop and on not much sleep since I got home, but lots of good stuff on the go!! I am the type who loves being busy, so I suppose it's my own fault.

I've been seeing pairings of blues and neons all over the place and knew I absolutely needed to try it out for myself. And when I bought this flowy chiffon skirt from American apparel I knew I was going to be wearing it in Vancouver. This pairing just screams spring to me (as if the beautiful cherry blossoms behind me here weren't doing a good enough job of that). Oh and more heart print, typical! This outfit worked perfectly for a day of wandering around, shopping and visiting the art gallery. Oh and my new shoes!!! Studs and spikes and bling oh my!

Life's a Beach

Good Morning Loves! I've only been home for a couple of days and I already miss Vancouver and my older brother. I seriously had such a great vacation, other than it was too short!! Vancouver is in full blown spring, green grass, blossoms, sunshine and warmth!

I apologize for how pasty white I am, but my legs haven't been tightless since September...that's an awfully long time! How happy I was to pull off my tights, and shoes and feel the sand between my toes. We had an absolutely wonderful time on Kits beach this day goofing around and taking photos, it was the perfect day. My brother used to live super close to this beach, we even hung out here on Christmas Day one year! It's the perfect spot, an amazing view of Vancouver and the mountains :)

I picked up this polka dot dress on sale from U.O. while wandering around downtown while I was there. I love polka dots so much, so I couldn't resist, even though it does almost match my pale complexion..I love the combination of black, beige, gold jewellery and a pop of red. My shoes were also red, but my toes were dying to be dipped in the ocean ;)
