Where My Heart Sets Sail

The last look of heart month but the first set of photos from Vancouver! I did not want to come home at all, it was so much warmer there, the grass was green and the flowers were started to blossom. It's currently -25 here and I'm getting hella depressed with the weather. I am so glad I got to escape it, even if it was only for a few days.

One of my favourite things to do in Vancouver is head over to Granville market and get some of the tastiest and freshest produce. This time around we grabbed some amazing aged cheese, and fish jerky which was way tastier than it sounds. We also finally hit up the Granville Island Brewery, which is definitely one of my favourites!

Another thing that's my favourite? This maxi skirt, I couldn't resist pairing it with my heart tee and this blush scarf. For me these shades were are perfect together, and have me looking forward to spring finally hitting the wild west.

Blush, Blush, Blush

It's really funny how I used to think red and pink didn't go together because this combination of blush and red is one of my favourites. My mind and heart are set on spring so I've decided to start gearing my wardrobe that way too, and this blush shade just screams spring to me.

 I love the way it looks with my red hair, which I am actually thinking about changing. I'm bored but I have no idea what to do next! Help!

Jackets are one of my favourite pieces to buy, because they're so versatile and can really change up any look. This simple grey tee actually has a giant sparkly heart on it but it does not seem to want to show up in photos, boo. But this clutch is perfectly appropriate for heart month with it's bright red colour and heart studs all over, I must say I am rather taken with it. It was a gift from my brother and his girlfriend, they know me quite well I think :D

Remix:The Heart Sweater

I am so glad I was able to snatch this piece off Vickie earlier this year because it's made an invaluable addition to my wardrobe. Not only is it incredibly cozy, but it has a heart! I also love the fact that it's high-low, I don't own any other sweater like it and it's proved to be very easy to mix. It's easy to just throw over a dress to break it into separate's or layered up with a maxi, and cozy tights for those extra chilly days we get here

For some reason I don't often wear pink, I don't really know if it's "my colour". At least not bright shades like this one. However, when I found this dress I could not not get it. The heart print, and the fact that it has an open back made it a no brainer for me. I'm glad I did because it has always come through for me over the years.

This cropped sweater has also been an invaluable addition to my wardrobe recently. It's really cozy and is the perfect thing to throw over top of a summer dress to make it more winter weather appropriate. And adding studded accessories is my favourite way to take a sweet piece and make it a little tougher

Oh, My Heart

My obsession with anatomical hearts began shortly after I was diagnosed with a coarctation of the aorta in '09. I guess it wasn't so much a diagnosis as much as a realization on the part of my doctors, since it's something I was born with. 15 months of attempting to fix it and in June 2011 I finally had open heart surgery and got the ol' ticket fixed.
Now I can't help but be drawn to anything to do with hearts now; it's something that will be super important to me forever. So when I saw this phone case my first thought was "It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine" so Happy Valentines day to me!
Another thing I fell in love with at first sight? This incredibly neon pink sweater! All the other options were black, grey, or navy, booooring. This colour makes me very happy and isn't that the point of getting dressed?

Heart Day

Happy Heart Day all!! I hope you spend your day doing what you love surrounded by people you love, whether that be friends, family or a significant other. I'm not a big celebrator of Valentines day, but I love a good theme.

This has to be to date one of my favourite shoots, I wish I had time to make every outfit post this much fun but between being a full time student/working part time I barely have time to breath! Side note: While taking these pictures down an alley we totally interrupted a couple making out in their car, now that is perfect timing since these were for Valentines day.

I am so glad it's almost spring so I can bust out this gorgeous blush jacket again, I have such an obsession with that shade of pink. And I absolutely love mixing it with punches of red, whoever said pink and red don't go together have no idea what they're talking about! I think heart balloons might be my new go-to accessory ;)

This Ol' Heart

When I received this dress from Midwest Muse I was pretty excited to get to style it and I was even more excited when she said I could keep it! Not only is the colour scheme perfect for heart month, but it fits perfectly. Girl has an amazing closet of dresses and I am so lucky to get to try some.

 Since it was freezing this day I had to layer it with some fleece lined tights and my blazer. I can't wait for the days of bare skin and just throwing a dress on. Spring come soon please? Lucky for me I'm off to Vancouver next week

This time of the year is awesome because I can find heart shaped anything everywhere I go. Like this sparkly hearts, heart shaped and covered in glitter? A girl really doesn't even need an excuse to buy them. They are the perfect accessory for Heart month :)

Heart Lust List

 

Allowing me to look for heart print and anatomical heart's is a dangerous, dangerous thing. Cold Hearted

Hey old man winter, I'm incredibly sick of you and wish you would go away. Do you hear that? You're no longer wanted around these parts so pack your bags and scram. I honestly think it's best if we took a 8 month break from your cold, snow and general misery. But alas, old man winter doesn't really read fashion blogs...

I'm obviously a bit over the weather, and wearing everything I own in order to leave the house feeling semi-warm. This super warm, thick heart print sweater I nabbed from Vickie has been a godsend in order to stay warm, stylish and appropriately appropriate for heart month. In order to get more coverage I paired it with this gorgeous chiffon skirt from American apparel which were layered over a pair of cozy fleece lined leggings. It may be chilly but I refuse to let old man winter break my heart (har-har-har)
