Fit Friday: Focus!

 photo chapter_zpsdc20a4db.jpg
We all have the tendency to do this, comparing ourselves to others. Whether it's in blogging where we wish we had someone else's wardrobe, or someone's family or friends, or with fitness in regards to someone's skill level of body shape. In every case comparing ourselves to others isn't helpful and is just going to make us feel inadequate.
For fitness my advice to you is just this:
  •   Focus on yourself; not on your perceived imperfections but on your strengths. Challenge yourself to do things that scare you, that you find difficult. Remember that those things you're really good at now you were once scared of and were bad at.
  • Focus on how you feel, not your weight! Weight is just a number it does not give you an accurate reading of your health. Someone can be 135lbs and have a large amount of fat will look very different from someone who is 135lbs and has a large amount of muscle. Focusing on how you feel and your health is way more beneficial than some number. That post workout adrenaline rush is wonderful and when you feel sore because you did something wonderful for your body.
  • See your body in a new light, not as "the enemy" or in need of drastic change, but as something to be strengthened, enjoyed and appreciated.
  • Stop comparing yourself to others! We all have different body types and have different health/personal histories. It isn't fair to yourself to wish you had someone else's body, this mind set will set you up for failure!

Battle Wounds part 3

Hey everybody, I just got home from the hospital today! Everything went really well on tuesday, they had to replace more of my artery than they thought they had to but it's all fixed. I finally have a pulse in my hand and my fingers are no longer white. Of course being in the hospital sucked but thankfully it was only 2 nights and now I'm back home to relax and recover. It's 6 full weeks until I'm 100% but I'll probably be more mobile sometime soon. Im suprised I could even rise my arm up that much.
*
They took the vein out of my leg to put it in my arm, so I have 3 3cm incisions on my inner thigh (no pictures yet, it's an awkward area to photograph haha) and the 25 cm (10 inch) incision pictured below. It's actually a lot less painful than my last 2 surgeries because they didn't cut through the muscle in my arm for this one. Unfortunatly I'm stuck in pajama pants for a few weeks because of my leg wounds. But I'll still try to update, I have a few photos from earlier this month I saved!
I look forward to seeing everyone's updates and commenting soon :)

Health Update

Outfit: silk flower corset top- forever XXI, jeans-mavi, blazer-silence & noise (urban outfitters)

These lovely photos are from an outfit shoot I did over a month ago now, so from before my surgery. I tried uploading them MULTIPLE times, but for some reason they wouldn't work....until now :). I havn't done any outfit shoots, or any sort of photo work since my surgery because 1) I havn't been up to it physically 2) my body feels different, Im so used to being active and working out and playing soccer multiple times a week, so healing has been a difficult process 3) the weather is shit, theres only been like 5 nice days in the past 3 weeks!! But soon I promise! There will be pictures!

So it's been just over 3 weeks since my surgery and I must say I feel about 2872498 times better! I can walk for a long time, am able to get dressed (now if only the weather would cooperate), I even drove for the first time since the surgery yesterday. My wrist where they put a catheter in got swollen at the end of last week which was ridiculously painful! But thankfully it's feeling a lot better now. OH and I'm sleeping in my own bedroom again! It is delightful, I missed it soo much. I thought I would have been doing more blogging during these past weeks because of all the free time I had, but honestly I didn't feel like doing much of anything. It's been rough, all I've wanted to do is feel better and be healthy and be able to go to work and work out again.

I am getting really worried about my cash situation, I need $5000 still for school. All the money I saved to go to New York for my 21st birthday in august is now going towards paying for school and I feel defeated. I was really really looking forward to that trip, and now I dont get any sort of vacation this year. It's already midjune and I havn't done much of anything, which sucks. BUT I am getting healthy and feeling good which is the number 1 thing on my list to focus on! My scar is healing quite beautifully as well, which makes me happy!!

Battle Wounds

Greetings, I am posting this from my couch, which has been my home for the past week. It's been a tough week, a lot of pain and slowly getting better. My family takes me for walks every day, which makes me sound like a dog haha. Im not allowed to shower when theres no one in the house just in case something happens. It's been really weird, when I compare how I felt on monday to how I feel today it's a huge change. Today my dad, my mom and I went out and got lunch, I wore real pants!! It hurt but it was so lovely to be out of the house. I'm not walking like as much of an old lady anymore!! Yay! I still have a lot of healing to do, but it's nice to see a change and be getting a little bit better. And I have watched a million hours of fashion television and dexter! Dexter has become my new biggest addiction, I looove it. But I am getting bored sitting and watching TV, I keep dreaming about going to the gym and going for a run. Ahh well eventually. Hope everything out there in the cyber world has a great weekend! Be active on my behalf!
