Year in Review

After reading everyone else's year in review I thought I should do one too!! Even though it's a little late, it's okay.
From the top:

March: This is when I officially started this blog, I had been getting really into reading others blogs online and felt I had a voice, something to say and needed somewhere to showcase my individual sense of style. At University putting effort into the way you look isn't always well received, but I love clothing so I express this everyday.

Photobucket

April: I remember we had BEAUTIFUL weather this month, and it was ridiculously unseasonal, but I enjoyed it anyways. I spent majority of this month studying my butt off, this blog kind of fell to the back of my mind.

Photobucket

May: The month of the first unsuccesful attempt at putting a stent in my Aorta. May 18th left me with a large battle wound, hurting, and laying on the couch for the last 2 weeks of the month and into June.

Photobucket
Photobucket
June: I spent majority of this month trying to get better, a lot of my time and energy went into physically recovering. Going for walks, trying to get strength back. At least the weather had finally turned lovely and at the very end of the month I got to go back to work!

Photobucket
July: On the mend and feeling energized I began work at a flag girl doing construction for the summer, I made wicked cash fast for school and got a long really well with my crew. However getting home sweaty and dirty after a 10 hour day doesn't allow one to excercise much creativity in clothing options. Long weekend and rain days were the only time I got any blogging done.

Photobucket

August: The month of my 21st birthday! I celebrated with a large party in my backyard and plenty of cupcakes. Then on the 17th attempt #2 was made to get the stent into my Aorta...this one went worse, leaving me in the hospital on the day I turned 21 (august 20th). The rest of this month was spent trying to come to recover because I had to go back to University on the 8th of September. The main thing I learned from all this is I am so much tougher than I ever imagined, the doctors were impressed with my humour and quick recovery.

September: Back to school! And when I started really getting into blogging, I started near the middle of the month to try to set aside time for this every week, because I really love it. The leaves started changing and we had really gorgeous weather. I also changed my hair for the first time in 2 years!! From a brunette with lots of pink to a bona fide redhead! This definatly changed the way I dressed.

Photobucket

October: Full on fall, beautiful colours everywhere! We of course had our first snowfall during this month (as always) and because of plunging temperatures layers started to get piled on, much to my delight. I absolutely love wearing layers, I think it so much more interesting to style layers. The month of thanksgiving was fun, and interesting, school started to get more intense. My body finally felt normal again. I also started getting lots of readers! Yay, no more talking to myself :)

November: Midterms? Yup! Papers? Yup! New jobs opportunities? Yup! What a great and crazy month. I definatly got more committed to this blogging community. I feel like I've made some friends, and I get excited to read all your posts every morning. By the end of this month temperatures had plummeted and we had lots of SNOW!!
Photobucket

December: Now here's a crazy month! The month of finals, the month of merriment! School was intense, nothing but final projects and nose in the book for hours upon hours. But by the 17th I was free to get excited for christmas. I had the best christmas with family and friends, and although my older brother couldn't make it home from Victoria it was still fun!

Don't Let it Bring you Down

Photobucket
Oh Hi, I'm freezing in these photos, if you couldn't tell. But I really wanted to photograph what I wore to my dads birthday dinner yesterday. Old man's 55 now! We had a good meal with my family, godparents and Bryce.
It was -21 today, and tomorrow the high is -5? I live in the most bizarre place. The temperature often bounces up and down by 20 degrees between days....
*
This is one of the sweaters my mom bought me for christmas. So cute. The detailing around the neck and the buttons? Yeah, my mom did a good job. I really like the colour combination of the white and the teal and black. And that pretty pendant Bryce's mom got me for christmas. I got two absolutley gorgeous pendants for christmas, but I need to find a different chain for the other one, the one I have doesn't fit through the little hoop. I may use a black ropey one I have because I want to wear that pendant!
*
For tomorrow night I am going to a little party for new years eve at a friend's house. It should be fun, I have no idea what I should wear though....I think it's a more casual party. I'm really looking forward to 2011. My new years resolution? To be healthy, for all my surgeries to go smoothly and to be positive! What about you? Any new years plans/resolutions?

Ohhh, AND I got my haircut yesterday, it's so nice when it gets thinned out. It's a bit of a darker colour now which I love. It's like I dunked my head in red wine. Mmm

Hyacinth House

Photobucket

Good day everyone! This is what I wore out to lunch with one of my good friends for some spicy vietnamese noodles. It was delicious and we just chatted about our christmas's and whatnot. This is my absolute favorite dress, I love the print so much and it fits so perfectly. I paired it with my black cardigan and decided to wear my beautiful thick white scarf that Bryce got me for christmas. It actually has little flecks of gold in it. So pretty. I got this brown belt and the boots from a vintage shop in Edmonton called Decadence, but the belt is brand new. I like the way brown belt looks with everything. I used to never pair brown and black together, because growing up I had heard that was taboo, but lately I don't listen to those "rules" I listen to my instincts of what looks good to me.
I really loved this outfit, it's easy to wear and it fits great. My favorite look on me is a belted cardigan with a well fitted dress. Add some funky tights to the mix and I think this suits me best. This blog is great though because it challenges me to wear my dresses more than one way, to combine my skirts and everything in my wardrobe in multiple ways.
Anyways I am getting my haircut tomorrow and it is my dads birthday :)

Colours & Christmas

Photobucket

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! I know I did, I spent a lot of time with family and friends, ate waaay too much (I type this as I polish off a cupcake...mmm) I actually got kind of sick on christmas eve, I took my outfit pictures and felt dizzy/had a sore throat. And that did not lift until today, I wasn't super sick, just a super sore throat, so I ate tons of food, vitamen C and tons of tea! I am so happy to be feeling better. I did get spoiled this christmas though, lots of stuff to keep me warm (sweaters, cute hats, warm socks, cute slippers, a pretty tea pot!) I got some gift cards too, and some great books :) I was so suprised by everything! My family is so cute.
*
Anyways this is what I wore today, as I was finally feeling better to take photos! I bought this pretty flannel top boxing day shopping. I love the colours, the pink and blue and yellow all look so great together, my "feminine flannel". I got this new hat for christmas from "Santa" in my stocking. The pendant on my necklace is from Bryce's mom, she got it for me for christmas, it's a celtic symbol and it's gorgeous. This was the perfect casual outfit for going around and running errands today.

Merry Christmas!!

Photobucket
Greetings! It's Christmas Eve and I am super excited. My dad and I spent most of the day wrapping the last of the prezzies and getting them under the tree (I think we went a little overboard, as always haha). I decided to dress "christmassy" with my new red dress and green shoes (green necklace AND some green eyeshadow) I got this dress on monday from Ubran Outfitters, it was normally $80 and I got it for $30...I am the Queen of finding deals!! It's really light and soft, perfect for christmas eve. I probably won't wear the sweater when we have everyone over for dinner tonight, but it was still a wee bit too chilly for these photos to be without a sweater. This is two posts in a row where I'm wearing red!! Weeeird. I adore the print on this one though, teeny tiny little hearts? I couldn't resist.
*
really hope everyone has a lovely christmas with family and friends! And gets everything there hearts desire, and really appreciates everything. I find myself being really thankful for everything I have and how supportive my family and friends have been through this past year, it's been rough and I couldn't have made it through without them.
I'd also like to thank everyone who reads this blog, you are wonderful and every comment I get completely makes my day. I always look forward to see what you guys are going to say on my posts!! And I love reading all your posts. You are all gorgeous, wonderful ladies!!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

Santa Clause is Coming to Town

Photobucket

Hey everybody! I hope you're getting as excited for christmas as I am. I can't wait. 2 more days!!! I'm basically done my christmas shopping, just need a few very little things for stocking stuffers and whatnot. We have almost everything wrapped and the house is looking festive!! I love christmas
*
This is the skirt I wore a few posts back, but in red. I didn't own a thing in red before I got this so I thought I should buy it. It's really a very beautiful red colour, I love it, I'm really glad I got this now. I wanted to pair it with my striped top and then added another thick cardigan because it was chilly the day I took these photos! I really liked this look actually. The red feels very christmassy. I think I stopped wearing red when I had hot pink in my hair, just because the shade of pink looked odd with the red. But now that I have reddish hair I can wear red, and still pink too.
*
I wore this to my doctors appointment on tuesday and then to go vintage shopping for a bit (found 2 dresses for $5 each and then a belt). I hadn't been shopping for vintage in sooo long, just because the only time I'm in that part of town is for school which doesn't give me time to go. Oh, also, I'm having arm surgery on Jan 4th. During the last surgery they created a block in one of my arm arteries, which causes my hand to cramp up and my fingers turn white...SO, they are going to take a vein from my leg and replace the artery in my arm with it! Surgery every 4 months apparently is how my life is going. But it's okay, this one shouldn't be toooo bad hopefully!!

Banff Bound

Photobucket
Here are some photos from Saturday when Bryce and I drove down to Banff for the weekend!! I decided to wear something comfy and cozy which is a good thing I did because it was coooold there (Oh hi -20 degrees celcius and 80 PERCENT HUMIDITY! AH!) I absolutly love this flannel dress I bought, it's not only comfortable but it is really cute, it has ruffles by the neck!! I decided to wear my amazing cardigan from F21 that I just bought (& bought the same one for the friend I had for secret santa). This is such an amazing sweater, I think I've worn it a billion times in the past 2 weeks. Also i threw my purple hat on and was good to go. I was definatly looking for an outfit that was "cozy chic outdoors" haha. I think I pulled that off. Sorry theres only like 2 outfit pictures, it was freezing and I was cranky wandering around!!
Even though it was ridiculously cold we had such a good time. The room we stayed in had a loft area with the king sized bed, and downstairs there was a fireplace. Yeah, so sweet. We went out for the best steak I've ever eaten in my whole life at a place called the Saltlik. Seriously best meal ever. We had a gingerbread cake with vanilla ice cream and apples for dessert and Bryce said "This tastes what I'd imagine Scarlett Johannson would taste like" hahaaha, boys say the most interesting things! Anyways, I will have lots more photos from the weekend soon.
*PS. I am so happy to be free from finals!! I am now in full on christmas mode (spent monday finishing up the shopping and today wrapping!!
