Fit Friday: Goals

 photo 8a7f95ca-5eb5-4945-85fe-868c229fe8c8_zps8752e16d.jpg
Before you Start:
Come up with some easy goals you want to accomplish by exercising
1. Lose a few lbs (break it down into small increments, healthful weight loss is a process!)
2. Run a 5km race (or a 10km race, or a half marathon!)
3. Have more energy/ elevate your mood

The first 2 here are really specific and visible goals that you can see progress being made, the third one is a wonderful side affect of exercise but isn't as calculable.
Exercise can be a wonderful mood elevator, so if you're feeling stressed, depressed or anxious engaging in physical activity can really help. It can be hard to get motivated, but knowing you'll feel that much better afterwards is something to keep in mind.
Especially when I'm stressed I try to take a break to get a work out in and it always helps clear my head!
PS. Having colourful, funky footwear also helps motivate me and lift my mood ;)

Western Canada's Fashion Week part 2

On thursday night, I got to attend the last night of shows for western Canada's fashion week. I brought my brothers ex, who is pretty much my sister (I've known her since I was 12). It was really exciting for both of us. This time around the place was packed and it seemed like they were really organized. Of course we got to chat with all the other awesome bloggers which was fun! It's so funny how nervous I was to meet all of them, they're such sweet people.

I snapped waaay too many pictures, and have tried to include just a few favorites from each collection to give you a taste of what it was like. There were a lot of really gorgeous clothes on the runway. This actually completely surpassed my expectations, Serendipity had me wanting every single piece that came out. Not only were the designs amazing but the hair/makeup was perfect. Bold red lips, feather earrings and on the models faces, some of the models carried antique bird cages as well. So amazing!!

I'm a sucker for a pattern, what can I say?

Sheryl commented on this line saying it was very "Gothic Jackie O", I loved that description. It would have fit her daughter perfectly, shes a bit of a goth girl with a soft spot for this kind of dressing.

My favorite dresses, the feathers are gorgeous. The dress on the right with the deep V in the back is absolutely my favorite piece of the night. I am in love, I want to wear it to every christmas event next season

Photobucket Wonderful.

Jessica Halabi Photobucket Definitely my other favorite collection of the evening. Wonderful pieces. The dying technique she used is fantastic and that coat has an amazing shape.

I had issues picking out an outfit that day, even for work I changed about 6 times. Just one of those days I suppose? I couldn't find a coat to wear? Blazer looked too buisnessy, everything else fit weird. But I settled on casual denim, which was alright. Just one of those days I suppose when everything looks good on the hanger but just doesn't quite come together. Photobucket Me, Janis, Vickie, Andrew and Marie!

Western Canada's Fashion Week

Photobucket

Handcuffs Required Hello there, it's been a very busy weekend for me, which all started thursday night with the wonderful fashion show on whyte ave! I had never been to anything like that and it was actually really exciting and fun. Besides I got to meet other bloggers for the first time ever, and they were the sweetest ladies ever!! It was so funny, because I felt like I already knew them from seeing their posts. It was a lot of fun, and I was really impressed with some of our local talent. The girl who won the emerging talent contest was 15. 15?! At 15, my sense of style was ripped denim and tshirts. Not so stylish.

It was a lot of fun, and we got to sit front row too. I wanted to wear something really simple, colourful and comfortable. This dress was perfect for that, my sore throat was back so I felt comfortable and cute. A continuation of calling spring to me!! Colours! The outfit:

1. A new blog I've recently discovered is this stylish lady from Good frame of mind I love the way she paired the denim shirt with the polka dot skirt and pops of red. Such an amazing combination. The link is now right, my bad!!

2. Meg from bow ties are cool piles on the ruffles and it looks amazing! I love the ruffled red top. The cameo necklace she's wearing is also so gorgeous.

3. The always stylish lady from Oomph, wearing an amazing floral tribal pattern dress in a very feminine pink. She does pink funky with all her amazing jewellery. I love the tribal feel!

4. A seriously fiery redhead that makes pink look fierce from a blog called my eye. I love that even when wearing the soft pinks she still has some edge. I adore this trenchcoat in the light pink colour

5. With this amazing sweater belted over the floral dress and that incredible hat from inspirafashion I definitely feel inspired about the way to wear florals

6. Vickie, my fellow edmontonian, I love the way she paired this floral dress with the peach blazer and coloured tights. It looks so fresh!

7. The always spectacular Annebeth's dress has the most amazing hummingbird print and the punch of lime green is so perfect for spring. Also her nude tights are to die for. This dress fits so well

8. Coury has soft femininty down pat in this perfectly fitted dress, cozy sweater and super cute knee highs. I need some full skirted fitted dresses for summer

Hope you enjoyed :)

1. The lovely Cee from Coco and Vera spent some time over in Paris recently, and definatly fit in with the parisian chic in all her looks. This skirt is so gorgeous, the full fit and the colours are awesome.

2. I've only recently discovered this wonderful blog called Girl and Closet. I absolutly love her full skirt, the colours are so gorgeous, especially with the slight patterned tights and scarf.

3. From I heart this blog comes the perfect mixing of stripes and bright yellow, I love this combination, it feels so fresh!!

4. The lovely Caitlin from Waking Life, mixes yellow and blue so well. This outfit is so gorgeous and looks like it'd be perfect for spring! Finished off with brown accessories it's so great.

5. I am obsessed with not only the print mixing here but the way Vern knotted her maxi dress at the bottom! This really makes me want a maxi dress.

6. My fellow canadian from A fashion love affair rocks this maxi white skirt with the pink top. And some Killer heels! Makes me yern for warm weather.

7. I recently discovered Kendi Everyday, and she is the queen of the remix. This blouse is so gorgeous, and I've seen her wear it many ways. With the red skirt particularily I am in love!

8. Linley of dwelling and telling is wearing the most gorgeous polka dot dress ever. The colours are amazing, and the way she belted her scarf? Perfect.

Taking a cue from some other bloggers I thought it would be a great idea to put together a post about some of my favorite looks from some of the blogs I read. There is always so much inspiration from other bloggers, it's kind of a good way to showcase it!

1. The lovely and incredible Annebeth really knows how to work this long red skirt with her patterned top and white beret. Look at the movement!

2. Harriet, aka CityOfBugs on chictopia always has the best mix, this dress I think was gorgeous, and looked perfect with that cape!! Oh and the denim vest underneath. Genius.

3. Zoe cullie, not only is she unbelievably funny and witty, but the lady has mad style. I love the way she wore these trousers, and that she put on a scarf to make us in colder climates feel better. Thank you zoe!

4. Coury is a new discovery for me, her style is whimsical and feminine, even in trousers. I think I really need to try some trousers out, I love that both these ladies wore pink belts.

5. My fellow Edmontonian, and bravest soul for weathering the cold Shy! I can't get over these pictures still. That dress she thrifted is amazing, such a lovely floral and the pops of yellow kill me. So gorgeous.

6. PrettyNiftyThriftyFashion, another Canadian lady! As you can tell by the snow...She's also working a floral print and yellow scarf, I really love her blazer here. She has an amazing collection of thrifted blazers and they make me jealous

7. Emma who inspired me to start doing this weekly review is a gorgeous Australian redhead. I loove the way she mixed her prints here, I am obsessed with print mixing and she got it so right!

8. Delightfully tacky, one of the first blogs I started reading, because everything she puts on, I feel I would wear. She has an amazing sense of style, and I love floral and stripe print mixing so much.

9. Rebecca is one of the sweetest girls out there, I loove this dress on her, so feminine and cute, and the fact that she added this hat and her red lips makes it so great.

10. Violetheart, I love the way she wore these lights colours, layers and layers of them, and then those awesome tights. So amazing.
I hope you enjoyed these looks!

Inspiration

I was searching for some inspiration, anything that made me want to stop and click on a particular photoshoot was what I was looking for. These photos made me do just that, I love the way they encorporate native american accesories and pieces, mixing them with modern items. I find this very beautiful, and the photo where she's wearing a plaid top and a lovely long dress, well that obviously speaks to me, haha. This makes me want to braid my hair and pile on jewellery. I really love these photographs.
