Among the Wildflowers

Photobucket
Out of any vintage/thrift purchase I’ve ever made this skirt has to be one of my favourites. After lunch a few months ago my friend and I went to one of the thrift stores in town and I picked up a few things then right before we left I spotted this. It was a really long awkward length and my friend said it was hideous but there was something about it, I saw that we could have a future together! So I took it home (for all of $5) and hemmed it, (without a machine ><) and viola we have one of my favourite skirts.

I decided to pair it with this top that I got a few weeks back, I love the little studs on the sleeves, a nice little detail to add interest to a plain black t-shirt. I am actually wearing all my favourite thrift items, my ship pendant, alligator belt, and this skirt. I had to work a split shift this day, so not fun at all. But it gave me a great opportunity to hang out in the yard and take these pictures! My mum spread a bunch of seed for these little blue flowers all over this spot in our yard and I love the way it looks, it’s kind of funny with the dandelions spread throughout.

  6. good thing you brought it home, it's a fun skirt with lots of potential. the fact that it has the entire flower with stem gives it the total vintage vibe. cute!

  21. Wow, you did a great job in this skirt- and even better that you recognised it's potential when it was in a long, unattractive state :) I really envy that skill. Ditto the sewing skills, can't believe you hemmed this so well without a machine! The results are just stunning, and the pairing of the edgy studded top with it is fabulous.
