Held in a dreaming state

My heart goes out to everyone affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan that took place yesterday. I was looking at pictures and videos this morning and I can't believe the destruction. All the natural disasters so far this year have been ridiculous, the flooding in Australia, Chile, the other earthquake in New Zealand. I don't think I should ever be allowed to complain about the cold again considering how terrible things could be!

I feel kind of weird going from talking about natural disasters to talking about fashion...it feels kind of wrong right? I'll try to keep this quick.
This is something I wore this week to work after coming home from my holiday. I always love the idea of wearing sweaters over dresses, but for some reason on me I feel it looks odd with long sweaters. So I decided to knot this one and I was pretty happy with the results. I took a summer dress and added this sweater, my patterned red tights and some flats. I felt almost like a dancer in this. I piled on 3 necklaces, and liked the way they all looked together. Couldn't pick just one.
Coming home to my closet, I feel like I have so many more options than I thought I did. I guess living out of a suitcase will teach you a thing or two, and therefore I am on a shopping ban until April. I've spent enough money lately, now hopefully I can actually stick to this!

  1. You've said it..I will never complain about the weather ever again! It's just unbelievable how much has happend in that short amount of time!
Definitely feels strange to comment about your outfit now but I just love it so much. The knotted sweater looks gorgeous on that dress. And I also love all the pretty necklaces!

  2. It's kind of funny... I went to post something fashion-related on twitter this morning but found myself hesitating because it doesn't seem right to talk about such frivolous things. My parents are in Hawaii right now so I spent the night really considering the possible impact of the tsunami (although it turns out, of course, that things in Hawaii weren't so bad and they're fine.) That said, I do love your floral dress and the burgundy colour of your tights is just delightful :)

  3. I remember Edmonton winters and even though I've been complaining about the weather in the New York area lately it really does seem totally frivolous considering the horrible events unfolding today and yesterday.

P.S. And even though it may be frivolous, I really love your floral skirt...I can't wait for spring to come.

Glad to hear Hawaii/ your parents are fine. I can't believe the disaster in Japan either -- I'm really worried about friends I have there!

  7. I agree on what you say about the catastrophe in Japan. It even feels weird to comment on your outfit after writing this here in the comment, so just say you really look lovely in this and add that I hope Japan gets all the help it needs now.
Not the most elegant way to combine these two topics in one comment, but at least I tried ;)

  8. I chose not to adress the subject because I didn't want to trivialise the matter by saying a few lines and then going on about my outfit, but that's just me, I don't mind you posting about it :) this is a lovely mix of girly and casual!

  9. I think we all feel the same way about all the natural disasters going on at the moment. It's terrible and scary.

On a different note, I do love the way you made a summer frock into some wintry and pretty. And the necklaces was a great touch.

  13. Ahh I completely agree with you. I feel like such an ass now for all of the complaining I do about weather! It could seriously be so much worse and my heart goes out to all of those affected!

On a fashion note, I love this outfit and your hair. You look amazing :)
