A little bit country...

For the Olsen City Girl contest on Chictopia I wanted to create a look that reflected my hometown of Edmonton, Alberta. Edmonton is most known for being the capital of Alberta, a prairie city in a province producing oil and natural gas. Also, we have the largest mall in North America! I've lived here my whole life, and as much as I dislike it sometimes (the disgustingly cold winters are to blame), there are moments where I really love this city.
*
So this outfit to me reflects this city, in that, plaid is very much a "prairie" type pattern. When I see it, I think of farms, and the great outdoors. Which is exactly the sort of landscape surrounding Edmonton. Although this city isn't especially known for it's fashion scene, like Vancouver or Toronto, there is one and it's growing every year.
I loved the idea of print mixing this plaid top with the stripe skirt. I think these prints and colours look wonderful together. I'm wearing a half sleeve black top under my plaid top to add a bit more warmth, 2 pairs of wool tights (for that chilly weather we get here) and my super comfy boots. I love how casual and comfortable this look is. And I think everyone knows this is my favorite skirt by now.

Ohhhhh, So funny story. I was playing soccer on sunday, and I got kicked in the face!! I was so very worried I had lost some teeth, but I didn't, thank god. But my lip got a little bloody and swollen.
AND I had finished one of my essays a day early, then had a complete brain fart and ended up handing it in 9 hours late....durrr. I thought I had emailed it in, but I had emailed it to myself......I must be stressed about finals. I never do that shit. BAH, only 8 days until freedom.

My nail polish is called "Rumple's Wiggin's", that makes me giggle

  8. This look is so very Canadian chic, and one of very few truly successful attempts at mixed prints I've seen- love it! Your ring is gorgeous, too. Good luck with all of your final papers and exams!
